Last day before the tour officially kicks in!
From tomorrow the giant machine of Tour de France starts, that means transfers, new hotels every day, new people and ohhh yeah: New menues !! These first couple of days are always a little more hectic for Troels and I, because there is a lunch squeezed in to the daily plan – so I’m really looking forward to the whole thing to start so we can focus on making awesome dinners for the saxo-tinkoff-boys.
After serving breakfast, preparing for lunch and dinner – we started scrubbing down the truck from one end to the other, it took some effort and time – but it looks so great now! Tomorrow we will make our way out there to start cooking – I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it… Wait thats a song… Oh well it fits perfectly to my mood so why not!
During and after our cleaning session we had a few visitors, Michael Mørkøv our rider stopped with Bjarne and a photographer… That was a surprise – anyway can’t wait to see the pictures, but I have no idea where they will be published – so I guess I have to wait for someone to tell me.
Sean the chef from Garmin also popped in to say hello – it’s always nice to hang out with fellow chef colleagues and chat about how things are on the different teams and so on.
Unfortunately he didn’t stay for coffee, so Troels and I had a cup alone to celebrate the new work space.
Dinner time was 20.00 – so we finished up in the truck around 18.00 and continued in the hotel kitchen to finish dinner.
After dinner I had a chat with the riders about, what they wanted to eat for all meals and after races – This is a great group, everyone likes every thing – the joy of a chef!
We had a briefing from Bjarne, the team owner, after dinner – That was great, good spirits and vibes for all on this tour.
So enough of all this Hannah, What did they eat today??? Ok, I’ll tell you …
- thinly sliced cold veal with parmesan and rucola
- quinoa, with lemon chicken and tomato
- Green leafs with carrot ribbons, cucumber and sprouts – served with chicken in coriander dressing.
- Sourdough bread
- fresh fruit
And for dinner you might ask …
- Baked cod fish with dill
- Chicken with fresh corn and spring onions
- salad of avocado, cherry tomato and mozzarella
- caramelized fennel and balsamic raddichio
- Tomato sauce and whole grain pasta
- fresh fruit
- sour dough bread
So folks, thats it for today – the internet is painfully slow and I’m tired so that equals ZZZZZzzzzzzzz…..
